New "smaller fiddle yard"

As mentioned in the "about the layout section, home page" I have returned to building the layout, one of the first problems to overcome was that I had to remove the corner of the layout that had the track leading up from the helix and onto the main section of the layout, this board also had the inner main line corner, this whole board had to be removed, so we could store equipment ect form the closing of my business.

So what to do?

I have decided to add a hinged board to the section above the black drawers, with small fiddle yard, and taking the inner main line, which runs behind the board with sky on (later project) and joining this to the helix, this allows easier access to the layout and more space in the garage!

Above shows the end of the remaining board, before it was partly cleared and new track laid.

Entrance to layout

The abover image shows the new (drop down) board with track for small fiddle yard added, it only need to small as it will be the fiddle yard for the switching yard part of the layout only.

Wood yard

The above image shows the new track layout on the scenic board with the fiddle yard entrance hidden by the lumber yard storage building (the build of this wooden building will be the next blog).

I like the way this has developed, it also gives a good entrance to the over all layout.
